The short version

You can play without an account and without giving us anything. If you choose to sign in, we ask your provider for your name and email address so your rating can follow you between devices. We do not sell anything, we do not advertise, and we do not post anything anywhere.

Playing as a guest

When you open the arena we create a guest profile and store an identifier for it in a cookie on your device. That is what lets you keep the same name and rating when you come back.

A guest profile holds an auto-generated display name, a rating, a win and loss record, and the matches you have played. It is tied to that browser on that device. Clear your cookies and it is gone for good, because there is nothing else linking it to you.

Guest profiles that never play a match are deleted automatically after thirty days.

Signing in

Signing in with Google, Microsoft or Apple tells us three things: an identifier for you at that provider, your display name, and your email address. We ask for nothing else, and we cannot see your password.

We use the email address to recognise you when you come back, and nothing else. We do not send marketing email.

Signing in attaches your existing guest profile to your account, so the rating, record and replays you already built up come with you.

What other players can see

Your display name, your rating, and whether you are free or in a match. Anyone can open a replay of a finished match if they have its link, which includes the moves and both display names.

Your email address is never shown to anyone.

Cookies

Two, both strictly necessary and neither used for tracking. One identifies your guest profile. The other holds your sign-in session if you have an account. There are no analytics or advertising cookies on this site.

Where it is kept

On Cloudflare, which hosts the site and the database. Match records and replays are kept so your history and rating make sense over time.

Deleting your data

As a guest, clearing your browser cookies for this site ends it — the profile is orphaned and swept up automatically.

With an account, email the address below and say you want it deleted. We will remove your profile, your email address, and the link to your sign-in provider.

Children

This game is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If what we do with data changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves.
